Twitter Doubles Characters

By: Steve Graham

Tired of having to edit, reword, abbreviate, and so on I dropped Twitter much quicker than I picked it up. To me and I am sure many others 140 characters is not enough to communicate many of my points.

To me and I am sure many others 140 characters is not enough to communicate many of my points.

What should I cut out?

What words can I shorten, straight = str8, ate = 8, …………

Oh, I can use a link shortener too.

This spells out GIANT PAIN IN THE ASS!

NOW! RIGHT NOW!

RIGHT NOW!

THERE IS HOPE!

Twitter has doubled their character limit from 140 to 280.

In a recent article on SocialBlade.com, they wrote:

Twitter is testing an expanded character limit, which doubles the previous 140 character maximum to 280.

The reason? People have a lot to say. “Our research shows us that the character limit is a major cause of frustration for people Tweeting in English,” the company wrote. “When people don’t have to cram their thoughts into 140 characters and actually have some to spare, we see more people Tweeting – which is awesome!”
